| St .Francis or an edition of 8 Friars was commissioned in the winter of 2006. The project was completed in Spring of 2007 and had me sculpting molding casting spruing casting again then finally chasing the castings. The Mass Art foundry is like a second home for me now. this project gave me an intimate view of the founder process especially when casting thin walled shells. Each casting was 1/4 of an in in thickness, and that meant the wax casting needed to be as thick. Well after weeks of experimentation 270dgrees fro brown wax is the best casting temp and if I had a centrifuge to carry the mold I could have saved myself exercise. |
