| Prometheus was my first over sized figure. This figure started with our model for life size independent study assuming a basic prone position. well my mind got to working on how to co opt the pose into something really challenging. O brother did I get what I asked for, 800lbs of clay was the first major endeavor all hand made from scrap and ball clay powder. Next was creating the armature, which ended up collapsing, this created a nicer composition so I considered it a universal hand and continued to move forward. This was my final sculpture project. It helped me to know many of the processes I use much more intimately and if you ever have the chance to work big, just carve it from foam. |
